High Tensile 8.8 Grade Round Washer is often referred to as the structural grade. It is the most common form of high tensile material which is used for making fasteners. Grade 8.8 Washer is a thin plate with a hole typically in the middle that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a bolt or nut. It often has an outer diameter about twice their inner diameter, but this can vary quite widely. It require high-quality bolted joints  hardened steel such as grade 8.8 to prevent the loss of pre-load due to brinelling after the torque is applied. It is not always necessary but it is common practice to use them anyway. Class 8.8 Lock Washer is designed to be tightened to a required torque beneath an ordinary fastener. They apply a spring tension that holds back the fastener from vibrating loose. They are usually fixed to the nut side of the fastener. It goes into the threaded fastener first followed by the flat washer. In this way the lock washer adds tension to the fastener assembly. Grade 8.8 Flat Washer is to increase the size of a screw's bearing surface area, and reduce the surface pressure applied on the fastened object. Looseness can result when the bearing surface sinks under the surface pressure, so it is used to reduce the surface pressure is very effective. 8.8 Grade Spring Washer has axial flexibility and are used to prevent fastening or loosening due to vibrations. It is placed under the nut to prevent loosening of the nut.
