The specification Class 4.6 Threaded Rod is a standard that covers fasteners manufactured from either Low carbon steel or medium carbon steel. Since both Low carbon steel and medium carbon steel used to make the alloy of Grade 4.6 Material is cheaper as compared to other steel grades, Grade 4.6 Bolts & Grade 4.6 Nuts are the most commonly used fasteners in various industries. Besides having carbon as the primary alloying element, the Class 4.6 Material consists of phosphorous and sulphur in trace amounts.
The method used to manufacture the alloy of the Grade 4.6 Washer includes cold deformation and chip removal. Cold deformation or cold working is a process in which intentional plastic deformation has been induced in the Grade 4.6 Screw alloy . This plastic deformation of the 4.6 Grade Bolt alloy helps in exacting the change in shape required. Cold working the alloy of the 4.6 Grade Fasteners aids in increasing the yield strength, hardness and tensile strength. The ultimate material strength of Grade 4.6 Threaded Rod is 40 Mpa while its yield strength or the proof stress is 60% that of the ultimate strength. The size range of these Class 4.6 Bolts falls in to the range between M5 - M36.
