ASTM A194 grade 4 Heavy Hex Nut is a bit larger and thicker compared to standard hex nuts. It is a specification which covers alloy, carbon and stainless steel nuts considered to be utilized in high-pressure and temperature service. ASTM A194 Grade 4 Nuts properties and its yield strength greatly decrease as it absorbs the heat when it is exposed to high temperatures. It is resistant to scaling at temperatures i.e. higher than 500° C. It is a mechanical fastener along a threaded hole. It is jointed to a screw, bolt or stud in order to offer a clamping force and to stop axial movement. It is always used in conjunction along with a mating bolt to secure numerous parts together.

A194 gr 4 Square Nuts is a four sided nut. It has greater surface in connection with the part which it is being fastened and hence it offers considerable resistance to loosening. It is meant to be used at temperatures i.e. higher than 500° C. Because it provides good strength at this temperature and are especially resistant to short and long term exposure to combustion products and hot gases at the higher temperature than 500 °C. SA 194 gr 4 Finished Hex Nuts is a solid solution strengthened alloy steels. As it can be used over a certain range of temperature so its strength can usually be hardened its mechanism by heat treatment, precipitation and solid solution. It is composed of various alloying components for the motive of attaining the wanted properties and it used in applications where it is critical to increase resistance temperature.
